Marc Boldt's Common Sense Approach
Dear Clark County voter:
“I believe our current
revenues are adequate to
provide the citizens with
the services they need. By
closely monitoring
expenses and prioritizing
programs, I believe we can
balance our county budget
with no new taxes.”
Many Important Challenges Lie Ahead...
The County Commissioners are responsible for the direction and policies of county
government and all the services they provide. As your County Commissioner I
will continue to use practical, common sense to provide direct services and
infrastructure to all our residents living in the
unincorporated county. Additionally, as your County
Commissioner, I bring a proven track record of
leadership to oversee several regional public services
that affect all county residents, such as criminal justice
and growth management.
We are a growing,
vibrant community!
I believe we live in a wonderful community full of great
people who deserve to have the best county
government possible. I also believe the attitude of
county government should be one of service rather
than control. While I have been working in the private
sector all my life, I also had the privilege of serving
the citizens of the 17th District as their State
Representative from 1994 to 2004. During that
decade, I attended the best public policy school in the nation - the Washington
State Legislature. You elected me to the Clark County Board of Commissioners in
2004. Since that time, I have been dedicated to streamlining county government
by prioritizing spending and reducing waste and inefficiencies. With a
combination of my public and private experience, I believe I bring credible
leadership through genuine service to our community. My voting record is a
testament to my fiscal conservative values.
I want to ensure our future quality of life!
For me, my top priorities are ensuring public safety and maintaining fiscal
responsibility throughout the county budget. I want our criminal justice system
to continue to be effective and efficient at keeping our citizens safe. This means
having Sheriffs on the street, a properly functioning court system and the ability
to punish offenders. The second responsibility is to protect our financial resources.
With sound financial management and long range planning, I believe our current
revenues are adequate to provide the citizens with the services they need. By closely
monitoring expenses and prioritizing programs, I believe we can balance our
county budget with no new taxes.
Planning effectively for growth!
As your County Commissioner, I lead the charge to manage our growth in the most
sensible way. Just as parents must plan for the inevitable growth of their children,
County Commissioners must also adequately plan for the growth of our dynamic
community. Our recent decision as Commissioners to revisit the Growth Management
Plan will ultimately help our local economy and encourage more affordable
housing for Clark County families.
My experience sets me apart!
Clark County is made up of a diverse population. The
key to serving our area effectively is to get along with
and work well with others. I have the experience and a
proven record of getting along with all parties. I have
successfully worked across the aisle with two Democrat
County Commissioners to do what’s best for our citizens
and to preserve our quality of life. I will continue to have
the interests of our citizens in mind as I make important
decisions for Clark County.
A Local Government that truly serves!
My passion as County Commissioner for the past four
years has been to serve the fine people of this county. I
will continue to lead the change of County government from that of control to service.
I have challenged all county employees to improve their customer service to our
citizens. This important philosophy of customer service must begin with all our
county employees and permeate the entire county government system. With my
leadership, many improvements have been made. However, there is more work to
do. We have more efficiencies to identify and tax payer dollars to save. With your
vote, I can continue this important work in Clark County.
